Metallurgy
(n. The study of metals)Widescreen theme & OSD for Mythtv 0.21 (dev)
© Stuart MorganDescription
This theme blends metal and glass effects with an attempt to layout pages a little differently from past themes. The OSD is the first high-resolution theme offered for mythtv and uses transparency so that you don't miss any of the action on-screen.
There is a choice of colour schemes including Blue, Red, Green and Purple. More colour schemes may be offered in the future.

F.A.Q.
- Q: Why is the clock/date missing on many pages?
A: This is a limitation of the current UI library. As more pages are ported to mythui the clock will appear on every single page. - Q: Will this theme work with 0.20 or earlier versions?
A: No. It requires the latest version of SVN Trunk, [15169] at the time of writing. - Q: Will you create a version to work with 0.20?
A: No. An approximate release date has now been set for 0.21 and I'd rather spend that time working on mythtv so that we can make that date. Metallurgy makes use of several code additions which I couldn't justify backporting to 0.20-fixes. - Q: Will you release a 4:3 version?
A: Maybe. There is a lot of work involved and as I don't have a 4:3 frontend it's not a high prority, unless I'm paid a fair rate to do it. - Q: Can I request a different colour?
A: Within reason I'll listen to requests for different button colour schemes, but if things get out of hand then I'll have to start refusing. - Q: Have you made any other MythTV themes?
A: No, this is my first and was never planned, it evolved from a discussion on IRC. I can't say if I'll create more themes, it has taken a lot of time away from my code work but if I have a good idea, then I might do another. - Q: Where did you get the images?
A: All the theme images, apart from the background and mythtv logo, were drawn by me. - Q: Can I use your images in my theme? Can I copy your theme, change some things and release it?
A: I would rather you didn't. Try and show a little originality, what you come up with could be a lot better than if you just re-hash older themes. Opensource should be about exploring new ideas and not just re-using old ones.
